Water Filter Pitchers — Checked Against the NSF Registry
We looked up every pitcher and dispenser filter brand in the live NSF Certified Drinking Water Treatment Units registry — several "filters lead" claims don't resolve to an NSF/ANSI 53 lead certification, and three popular brands don't appear in the registry at all.
Marketing copy says "filters lead." The NSF Certified Drinking Water Treatment Units (DWTU) registry (info.nsf.org/Certified/dwtu) says what a specific model is actually certified for, standard by standard: NSF/ANSI 42 (chlorine, taste, and odor — aesthetic effects only), NSF/ANSI 53 (health effects, including lead), and NSF/ANSI 401 (emerging compounds like pharmaceuticals and microplastics). This table records what each brand's pitcher or dispenser filter actually shows in that registry as of the snapshot date below — including brands that don't appear in it at all, which is itself worth knowing before you buy on a "certified" label.
